K State president retiring

Kansas State University will be getting a new leader. President Richard Myers has announced his plans for retirement. Myers has been the university’s president since 2016.

Ark City woman sentenced in benefits scam

An Ark City woman has been sentenced after she pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized acquisition of social security benefits. Teresa Grant has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordererd to pay nearly 87 thousand dollars she fraudulently collected in social security benefits for children who did not live with her.

Cowley College hosts symposium

Governor issues disaster declaration over flooding

Governor Laura Kelly has issued a state of disaster emergency declaration over flooding that began this past weekend. The move allow for state resources and personnel to help with response and recovery options in counties that meet certain criteria.

Golf tournament set for next month

Today is Tax Day

Quick reminder that today is tax day. It’s the deadline to file your federal tax return. The penalty for not paying your taxes on time is 5% of your unpaid taxes for each month that the return is overdue, topping out at 25%.
