An Ark City woman has been sentenced after she pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized acquisition of social security benefits. Teresa Grant has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordererd to pay nearly 87 thousand dollars she fraudulently collected in social security benefits for children who did not live with her.

Cowley College recently held a summer symposium that was attended by 56 faculty members. The symposium focused on technology and attendees had a chance to explore new technology tools. Governor Laura Kelly has issued a state of disaster emergency declaration over flooding that began this past weekend. The move allow for state resources and personnel to help with response and recovery options in counties that meet certain criteria.
