The Ark City Police Department says Ark City residents have reported that they have recently received threatening text messages. The messages indicate that the sender was paid money to “terminate” the text recipient and that they have been followed for a period of time. The text goes on to instruct the recipient not to contact authorities. At this time, we ask that if you receive a similar text message, do not respond to the text, block the sender’s number and call the police department. If responded to, the sender will ask for money in exchange for calling off the termination. The matter is currently under investigation.
