Another improvement for Wilson Park

The City of Ark City says another improvement is officially underway at Wilson Park. City crews have begun removing the former tennis courts to make way for four new pickleball courts-part of the City’s long-term investment in park improvements. During the December 2 City Commission meeting, the City of Arkansas City approved a contract with Multisports LLC to design and build the new courts. The project will include post-tension concrete courts, lighting, fencing, surfacing, and related site improvements. The total project cost is $235,500, fully funded through outside sources. A Kansas Wildlife and Parks Land and Water Conservation Fund grant administered by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will cover a significant portion of the cost, with the remaining funds raised by local pickleball supporters through the Legacy Foundation of Cowley County. No City tax dollars will be used for construction.
