The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department will once again join the national “Fill the Boot” campaign to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). This year’s fundraiser will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of the department will be stationed along Summit Street between Central Avenue and 5th Avenue, collecting donations. For decades, fire departments nationwide have partnered with MDA to raise essential funds for research, treatment, and support services for families affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. The annual “Fill the Boot” campaign has become a hallmark of that effort.
