The City of Ark City says Following recent storms, many individuals are going door-to-door offering services like roof, hail, and windshield repair. Before hiring anyone, make sure they are licensed to work in Arkansas City. It is illegal to go door-to-door in Arkansas City to sell goods or services without a valid license from the City. Who needs a license? Anyone attempting to sell or solicit work at a private home or business will need to first be issued a Private Premises License from the City Clerk’s Office. A City-issued badge must be carried by the salesperson at all times. No badge = No license. Contractors must also be licensed with the City before doing any work. Permits are required for structural repairs and must be posted in a window facing the street. What to look for: A valid City-issued contractor business license and issued permit per job.
