November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Month

Governor Laura Kelly recently signed a proclamation to make it official: November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers month. State Librarian Ray Walling visited a local preschool to kick off this year’s program. Kansas Reads to Preschoolers is an annual program that encourages early childhood literacy by engaging young minds in the joy of reading. Each year, the program committee and the State Librarian select a children’s book to be read and shared with preschoolers across the state. This year, the chosen book is “My Heart Fills with Happiness” by Meredith Grey Smith, with illustrations by Julie Flett. The book is available in a bilingual English/Spanish selection.
