During the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, Arkansas City crews began blocking off portions of the alleyway in the downtown area for a construction project that will span several blocks. Weather permitting, beginning Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, improvements in wastewater infrastructure will start in the alleyway on the west side of Summit Street from 5th Street to Adams Avenue. The project will include a downtown manhole and sanitary sewer rehabilitation and is expected to be completed in approximately 90 days, pending any unforeseen construction delays.
