Natural gas bills for Winfield residents to be adjusted

Good news for Winfield residents: your natural gas bills will be reduced because the pipeline company that serves the city has decided not to assess penalties it could have put on the city for customers’ natural gas usage during the February winter storm. The company will not charge the city $4.8 million in penalties, according to ctnewsonline.com. The mayor said the city is not being charged the penalty in part because of staff and customers’ efforts to cut natural gas usage during the storm. Natural gas bills for Winfield residents will be adjusted, although it’s not clear what that amount will be.
