The state health department announced this week, it had confirmed a case of the U.K. variant of coronavius, in Ellis County, Kansas. Dr. Dana Hawkinson, director of infection control for the University of Kansas Health System, said there is a chance the U.K. variant is in Kansas City and surrounding areas. The A.P. said the person infected with the variant was a student-athlete at Fort Hays State University. Other health experts said there will be more confirmed cases of the variant in Kansas.
