USD 470 graduation is Saturday

USD 470 says they look forward to celebrating the Arkansas City High School Graduating Class of 2023 on Saturday, May 13. The graduation ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Should plans need to change due to weather, the ceremony will move inside the high school gym.

Winfield employees rebuild pergola

The City of Winfield says it was another great showing by our City employees, who replaced/rebuilt from the ground up a beautiful shade pergola at the Winfield Aquatic Center. There’s a picture of it up on their Facebook page. This in house project saved taxpayers more than $30,000.

Students take part in Elementary Honor Choir Day

USD 470 says last week 70 elementary students – many of whom are from Ark City – participated in the Elementary Honor Choir Day at Southwestern College. The students practiced all day to learn several pieces of music that they performed in a concert to end the event.

Money available to improve internet

Governor Laura Kelly announced a new program aimed at helping Kansas communities that lack high-speed internet. The Lasting Infrastructure and Network Connectivity (LINC) program will provide $30 million in competitive funding opportunities to build the infrastructure needed for more homes and businesses to access broadband.
