The City of Ark City’s Street & Stormwater Department would like to remind residents that when grass clippings are left on the street, they can be washed into storm drains during rainstorms. Grass clippings and other organic debris can clog drains, leading to flooding and potential damage to the drainage system. Grass clippings can also create a slippery surface on roads and sidewalks, especially when wet, posing a safety risk for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists who may lose traction and control.
