On the evening of April 23rd, officers with the El Dorado Police Department, along with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1200 block of W. Towanda for the report of a hostage situation. It was learned that 57 year old Timothy Vanderford, of El Dorado, had entered the residence, armed with handguns and forced the 63 year old female victim, who Timothy was familiar with, into a bedroom at gunpoint. Prior to the arrival of officers, there was a shot fired inside of the residence. After approximately three hours of negotiations, Vanderford released the hostage and was taken into custody without further incident. Vandeford is facing multiple charges.
