Arkansas City FD and Winfield FD were busy yesterday providing mutual aid response to each other’s respected coverage areas. At 7:08 am, ACFD responded to a structure fire on the southwest side of the county, on 11th Road. An all clear of the building was given from dispatch while enroute to the fire. Upon arriving on scene, Engine 51 crew found large amounts of smoke and flames coming from the Charlie side of the structure, in which they began an aggressive fire attack. Engine 52 responded from a structure fire they were on in Winfield while providing mutual aid with Winfield FD from a fire they responded to at 5:44 am. The homeowners are safe, as well as a dog and two cats. The cause of the fire is believed to be from an electric heater in a dog house.
