For the safety of pedestrians and storefront patrons, the City of Arkansas City reminds residents and visitors that riding bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or similar devices on sidewalks in the downtown area is prohibited under Municipal Code Sec. 58-23, Section 116. Bicycles are not permitted on city sidewalks along Summit Street from Walnut Avenue to Madison Avenue. Sidewalks in this area are for foot traffic only. City crews have installed signage, but we continue to receive safety concerns from downtown businesses. Please do your part to keep our sidewalks safe.
