Preservation consultant Christy Davis will be in Arkansas City on August 5-6 to support the City’s effort to update the National Register nomination for the Historic Downtown Commercial District. Davis will hold open office hours from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. both days at the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce, 106 S. Summit St. Residents, business owners, and others are welcome to stop by with general questions about the project. Appointments are available from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for those with building-specific questions or who would like to request a site visit. To schedule an appointment, email [email protected]. A public meeting will also be held during the Historic Preservation Board’s regular meeting on August 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 118 W. Central Ave. Project updates will be shared, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions. The City of Arkansas City is partnering with Davis Preservation to complete the update.
