On April 1, 2025, at approximately 5:44 A.M., officers from the Arkansas City Police Department were dispatched to Groves Oil Phill Stop II, 811 E. Madison Ave., in response to a reported burglary and criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, officers discovered that forced entry had been made through a damaged door. A thorough search of the business was conducted; however, no suspects were located at the scene. Store personnel assisted investigators by providing key evidence, including the time of the incident and descriptions of two suspects. Later that morning, officers were alerted to an incident involving a juvenile male matching the description of one of the suspects. Investigators interviewed the juvenile, who admitted to participating in the burglary and theft. Through further investigation, officers identified a second suspect as 18-year-old Robert Killman of Arkansas City. Officers later located Killman at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile suspect was arrested on charges of burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property and was referred to the Cowley County Juvenile Intake and the Cowley County Attorney’s Office. Robert Killman was arrested on charges of burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, and contributing to a child’s misconduct. He was transported to the Cowley County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
