Work begins on new water well

The City of Ark City says work has officially begun on a new water well as part of the City of Arkansas City’s efforts to enhance its water infrastructure. Drilling has commenced for Well No. 16, an important step in the Drinking Water System Improvement Master Plan, which was unveiled in October 2024. The well will replace an outdated existing well, improving the city’s water supply capacity and ensuring reliable, high-quality water for residents and businesses. Once the new well is operational, the outdated well will be decommissioned and dismantled. The well construction process will not cause disruptions in service, and residents should not expect any significant impact. Water quality testing will take place in the spring to ensure the new well is fully operational and meets all safety and quality standards
