Drive-thru flu shot clinic set for this week

The City-Cowley County Health Department says October marks the beginning of flu season and cases of influenza have been identified in Cowley County. Flu shots provide the best protection during this time of the year and can reduce both the severity and length of illness. However, it can take the immune system up to two weeks to generate antibodies following an immunization, so now is the best time to act. On Wednesday, October 23rd, the Health Department will be hosting a Drive-Thru Flu Clinic at the Winfield Fairgrounds from 10:00am to 5:00pm. This event presents a convenient opportunity for anyone looking to get their flu shot. There is no appointment necessary, attendees just need to bring their photo ID and insurance card. For any questions about influenza or to schedule an immunization appointment, please call the Health Department at (620) 221-1430 for Winfield and at (620) 442-3260 for Arkansas City.
