In anticipation of National Nonprofit Day on August 17, State Treasurer Steven Johnson announced that his office is initiating a week-long outreach effort to encourage nonprofit organizations across Kansas to search for unclaimed property that rightfully belongs to them.
Dedicated staff will focus on raising awareness that many nonprofit organizations are entitled to a share of over $640 million of unclaimed property held by the state. These funds include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, and more.
The Kansas Unclaimed Property Division will spend the week leading up to National Nonprofit Day contacting a range of organizations that may not be aware of missing money held in their name.
