Ark City PD announces traffic diversions for wide-load trucks

The Arkansas City Police Department is announcing traffic diversions for wide-load trucks in connection with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) bridge repair project on U.S. 77 over a railroad track on the bypass. The project began on Monday, August 26, 2024, and is expected to be completed by December 30, 2024. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during this time. Motorists are urged to slow down and exercise caution in the work zone. To address access issues at the construction site, lighter wide-load trucks will be permitted to use Summit Street as an alternative route on occasion. However, this adjustment is strictly for wide loads only.
