Fire hydrant flushing program continues

The City of Arkansas City is continuing its annual fire hydrant flushing program on Monday, June 24. The Environmental Services Department will begin flushing Section 10, which contains 41 fire hydrants east of the Walnut River, mainly in the Crestwood and Summit Acres neighborhoods. Additionally, the Environmental Services Department has begun flushing Section 11, which contains 27 fire hydrants east of First Street and north of Highland Drive, including all hydrants in Goff Industrial Park. Flushing will continue in Section 10 and Section 11 until at least July 2. All flushing will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday only. The Environmental Services Department advises against washing laundry if the water is discolored, as this can permanently stain the items.
