Today the City of Arkansas City will continue its fire hydrant flushing program in Section 5. This section includes 86 fire hydrants along and north of East Fifth Avenue, north to East Kansas Avenue, and east of A Street. Flushing will continue in Section 5 until at least June 18, 2024. All flushing will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday only. “Water customers in these areas might experience temporary discoloration or low water pressure during the fire hydrant flushing program,” said Environmental Services Superintendent Rod Philo. “If you encounter issues such as persistent discoloration or a noticeable loss in pressure that is not resolved by flushing a faucet for a few minutes, please call 620-441-4480 during business hours or 620-660-1115 after 5 p.m.”
