This is just a reminder that the City of Arkansas Environmental Services Department has begun the process of potholing service lines for publicly and privately owned water systems. Rod Philo, Environmental Services Supervisor, clarified the purpose behind this initiative, stating, “Residents might recall that last summer, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency introduced regulations mandating all public water supply systems to create a Kansas Lead Service Line Inventory. The ongoing potholing activity is a direct response to this requirement.” Following guidelines set forth by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), city crews will select two random houses on each block across the city for potholing. This process involves creating small holes in the ground at these locations, which are then refilled upon completion.
