Officers of the Arkansas City Police Department will be conducting a Daytime Seatbelt/ Distracted Driving Enforcement initiative on Friday, April 19th, 2024, in the 200 block of North Summit Street from 1100 hours to 1200 hours. During that time, ACPD Officers will be checking drivers of motor vehicles for Distracted Driving and Seat Belt Compliance. They will also be checking the other occupants of the vehicle for Seatbelt, Lap belt and Child Restraint violations. If the Officers observe other violations on or within a certain vehicle, they may stop that vehicle and speak with the driver and/or occupant(s) of that vehicle. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a united nationwide effort to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and eliminate preventable deaths and injuries on our roadways.
