US 166 BRIDGE WORK

Work will start soon to repair a U.S. 166 bridge over the Walnut River in Cowley County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project will be at the bridge almost five miles east of the south junction of U.S. 77/U.S. 166 highways, just east of Arkansas City.

The work is intended to repair flaking or chipping concrete on the surface of the bridge, according to KDOT. It will also add a thicker wearing surface to preserve the bridge and extend its life.

The work is expected to begin around Aug. 14 and be completed around Nov. 30. Traffic will be restricted to one lane, controlled by a 24-hour signal light.
