Police respond to wreck involving juvenile on a bicycle

The Arkansas City Police Department says on Saturday, June 10, at about 9:40 p.m., Arkansas City Police Department Officers and Arkansas City EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Highland Drive and Radio Lane for an accident involving a vehicle and a juvenile on a bicycle. Officers arrived and located a 14-year-old male who struck a vehicle while riding through the intersection. Officers learned that the juvenile had been southbound on Highland Drive when he failed to stop at the Radio Lane stop sign. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident. The juvenile was treated by EMS on scene and was transported by EMS to South Central Kansas Medical Center. The juvenile was later transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and is believed to be in stable condition.
