Kansas Poet Laureate emcees Words Save Lives event

Kansas Poet Laureate Huascar Medina emceed the Words Save Lives event hosted by the Creative Writing program at Cowley College earlier this week. Medina has participated in the Words Save Lives program since it was established in 2014 in Lawrence, Kansas, by Marcia Epstein, LMSW, on World Suicide Prevention Day. After being awarded the American Academy of Poets Laureate Fellowship in 2022, Medina decided to use his platform to expand Words Save Lives and their message of suicide awareness and prevention to 12 additional Kansas locations
