Winfield Police: A Winfield resident was the target recently of a tech support scam. She responded to a message on her computer purporting to be from Microsoft Tech Support. After calling the number on the message, she was asked several questions. What threw a red flag was when the phony tech support agent began asking about her bank account information. After numerous attempts to get her to share her bank account details, she ended the phone call. We recommend you do the same if you end up on a similar call. Never share any personal information (date of birth, social security number, bank account information, etc.) over the phone unless you are 100 percent certain it is someone who needs that information.
