The City-Cowley County Health Department says this is our current updated guidance we are sending out regarding the recent formula recall.
• As a part of the recall exchange process, WIC authorized vendors are not required to, nor do we recommend that they, determine whether a product was purchased using WIC benefits.
• WIC authorized vendors must treat all customers the same with regards, to the recall exchange process and possible substitutes (which may include, but are not limited to, the same product, a substitute product, store credit, or a cash refund which could be in the form of a gift card).
State WIC authorities are working on adding additional formulas into WIC FBA. Staff and vendors continue to communicate regarding which formulas are available.
The State WIC support staff and your local WIC program will continue providing updates as solutions are known.
