Winfield getting new substation

The electric substation in Winfield is going to be replaced. A project would involve building a new Tie Substation on city-owned property just east of the current substation, according to The project is expected to cost about 11 million dollars. Guidance, the transmission partner, will cover almost two-thirds of the cost, and the city will pay the rest. The goal is to increase electric transmission reliability. Construction is set to start in the middle of next year, and it’ll be finished by the end of 2022.
