ICU returning to South Central Medical Center

For five years, South Central Medical Center has been without an intensive care unit, but that’s going to change. Construction is underway on a new intensive care unit area, according to ctnewsonline.com. Nursing Director Tracy Austin said Dixie Simpson, the former ICU team lead, has agreed to rejoin the staff, and Austin has hired two nurses to work with Simpson and is hoping to hire a couple more. The new ICU area will open once the state inspection is done. The state inspection is scheduled for the second week of May.
