Man facing multiple charges after encounter with police

The Winfield Police Department says On August 5th, 2022, at approximately 11:54 AM, officers from the Winfield Police Department were dispatched to the 2700 Block of East 12th Avenue in Winfield for a report of a disturbance. Officers were advised that a male subject was attempting to force open the door of the residence. Officers were also advised that the male subject was armed with a knife and had threatened individuals on scene with it. Upon arrival officers immediately had contact with the male who was later identified as Robert Michael Perin Jr, 44 of Winfield, Mr. Perin refused officers directions to drop the knife and during the encounter lunged at officers swinging the knife in the air. Officers attempted to deploy a TASER on Mr. Perin and initially it was not affective. A second TASER was deployed on Mr. Perin, this deployment was successful. Mr. Perin was taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Perin was taken to William Newton Hospital for evaluation of injuries sustained during this incident. After he was evaluated, he was transported to the Cowley County Jail on the following charges: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (two counts), Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (four counts), Criminal Threat, Criminal use of a weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Hallucinogenic drugs, Possession of Drug paraphernalia. No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident.
