The City of Ark City says progress is being made on the waste water treatment plant renovations. Currently crews are doing demolition on old equipment that is being replaced, emptying one of the digesting tanks to prepare of concrete repairs, new piping and a new lid. One of the trickling filters is currently being replaced with new mechanical components and receiving concrete repairs. The new laboratory building is being finished up and staff is moving in, the old lab was located in the digester building which required city staff to work in an area that wasn’t necessarily a healthy environment. This project is designed to meet regulatory requirements and provide a safe working environment for city staff.
