Ark City PD preps for National Night Out

Each year the Arkansas City Police Department sponsors a two-night event to connect with the community in hopes of reducing crime. National Night Out has been a fixture in Arkansas City for over two decades. The event begins with a Kick-Off Party on Monday, October 3rd held in Wilson Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be something for everyone from food and games to performances from local groups to karaoke and informational booths. The event is open to the public and there is no cost. On Tuesday, October 4th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the department encourages neighborhoods within the city to organize block parties. One of the most effective ways to reduce crime in our city is to watch out for each other. That is a lot easier to do when you know your neighbors. Officers will visit each block party and answer any questions citizens may have about crime and traffic safety in our city.
