The Arkansas City Police Department has added a new social media platform, Nextdoor, to its outreach efforts. Nextdoor is an app that was created to help public agencies to reach their citizens and for neighborhoods to communicate with each other – and starting today, the Arkansas City Police Department will be using Nextdoor to help make Arkansas City neighborhoods stronger and safer. ACPD plans to share important news and emergency notifications that are relevant to residents’ neighborhood on this social media platform. Nextdoor is free to use. To register, you must only provide a valid street address. This platform also allows ACPD to text alerts to citizens that chose to include their cell phone number in their profiles.
