Winfield police say, a Winfield resident has reported another scam involving requests for gift cards. Winfield Police said on their Facebook page, the resident received a phone call from an unknown person claiming that they had the resident’s banking information. They told the resident they planned on withdrawing funds from their account if a $500 Dollar General gift card wasn’t obtained and given to them over the phone. The resident was aware it might be a scam, and no money was lost. If you get a call from someone claiming to be a legitimate business and they ask you to get gift cards to pay for services, police recommend you end the phone call without giving personal information.
